A morning stroll on the beach

On our way out for a morning stroll to the beach.  Aunt Roselyn and Uncle Dennis's house is in the background, which the kids call the yellow house.  We've had so much fun going here over the years!

Even though the kids are blurry in this picture, its still one of my favorites.  I like how Anna is on her toes.

Puss in Boots back again.  After we got back to the house, Lukey looked in the mirror to see himself as Puss then stopped putting feathers in his hat.  It was a little sad.  I think he really expected to see himself as a cat or something and was disappointed that he wasn't a cat.

Jockey Ridge and Puss in Boots

On one of the cooler days we went to the Jockey Ridge sand dunes (aka Tatooine and Agrabah).  It was fun to climb the dunes and the kids had fun playing in the sand.  We didn't last that long though.  It was really windy and Lukey's nose was running a lot and there was a lot of coughing going on by all.  We were all a little sick all week.

This picture kind of sums up how they were doing for part of the walk.  They fought through it though because they liked all the sand.

Both smiling and not coughing!

Anna was really good at climbing the dunes.  She was often ahead of us all and took care of Zena for awhile.

Lukey has gotten pretty into Puss in Boots in the last few weeks.  He put a feather in his hat, found a "sword" and put a cape on and was pretty pleased with how he looked.  He wore this get-up out to dinner too (with regular clothes, not pajamas).

OBX 2016

We had a great Easter break in Duck.  The weather ranged from low 60s to high 70s.  We had a few good beach days.  On our way home, the temperature started at about 70 in the morning, then we drove through rain, sun, sleet, snow and ended up back in Canton with the temperature in the 30s.

The kids played in the water a lot.  In the last few years, Anna has stayed more on the sand.  Not this year.  She loved jumping in the waves with Lukey.

The sand was still fun to play in though.

There was a lot of erosion on our part of the beach.  They probably weren't supposed to do this, but the kids really liked playing on the cliffs.  They slid and jumped down them then laid in the water to clean off the sand.

Lukey was looking forward to having watermelon in North Carolina weeks before our trip.  He was thrilled to finally have his watermelon.

Tim was pretty good about playing in the water with the kids.  Too cold for mommy.  Tim got a new cosi that said "Sworn to Fun, Loyal to None".

The kids were able to convince Nana to go in the water with them too.  She brought Zena in too.  Zena was okay with it but didn't really want to go in the water much.

Egg Hunt in OBX

We thought we'd forget about the whole egg hunt idea.  However, Anna kept talking about how she was excited to look for eggs on Easter.  The Easter Bunny didn't prepare for this and wasn't up for another trip to the grocery store to find eggs and candy Saturday night.  He ended up finding Luke and Anna the Monday morning after Easter in Duck. They were pretty excited.

Dying Easter Eggs

Lukey and Anna went to Grammy and Gramp's house to dye Easter Eggs with their cousins.   Anna probably dyed the most.  Lukey did a few though.

Paige liked to paint her eggs.
