Lukey's field trip to Maybury Farm

Lukey had a great time at his field trip to the farm today.  He saw a lot of animals, went on a tractor ride and played at the playground.

Lukey's favorite animal was the llama.  

Memorial Weekend

We had a pretty busy Memorial weekend.  We were outside for most of it because the weather was great.

The kids helped with mulch Saturday morning. 

They got a new pool.  It was a hit.

The kids played with Kent and Maeve for a few minutes at Nana and Pa Bob's house.  They were happy to pose for a picture making silly faces.  No chance of getting a pleasant smiling picture though.

We took our annual trip to the Botanical Gardens.  They walked the whole path and had a great time.

On the way home, we stopped at Katherine's house to see baby chickens.  Anna was  good about being nice and gentle with the chicks.

Lukey was good too...I guess the chicken got away in this picture.  Oops.

On Memorial Day, we went to Uncle Rob's house for his birthday.  Paige got the same pool this year.

Batty Bats

The kids loved watching Zena for a night while Uncle Ben was on a  business trip.  They took her for a lot of walks and told her over and over that she was a good dog.

Hello Kitty and Orange Kitty

Anna and her favorite toys, Hello Kitty and Orange Kitty.  She talks about these guys all day and makes up all kinds of stories.  Just today before her nap she gave Hello Kitty some pretend ice cream.  Before she went into her crib, she said that Hello Kitty needed a spoon and she didn't want Orange Kitty to gobble up all the ice cream before Hello Kitty got it.  She told me to go tell Orange Kitty not to gobble all the ice cream.  Whenever something is lost, she says, "Maybe Orange Kitty took it?"  They mostly eat cat food in the basement and sometimes chocolate (or today, chocolate ice cream).

There's also Mean Kitty...she likes to talk about him too.  She decided that he eats sand and rocks and talks in a low voice.  He mostly says, "I don't like you silly kitties."   She completely invented the idea of Mean Kitty.   There are no books or shows that have a "mean kitty" she just decided that he exists.  He's usually black but she has said that he was white before.  He lives in Auntie Carrie's basement (we might've suggested that idea to her once and it stuck...sorry Carrie, that's what happens when you let street cats into your house). 

Anna's other favorite "toys" are her toes, or as she likes to say toesies.  She makes them talk with a high voice and always wants to see them.  Lukey still likes the same things-cars, running around, riding bikes and big wheels.  He has now started reading too.  He learns more and more words every day.  He likes to count a lot too.  His favorite number is 20.  Their current favorite song is Volcano by Jimmy Buffet.   Their favorite show is Kipper.

Tulips are blooming in Holland. Michigan.

I planted a whole bunch of tulips last fall and they grew!!  Anna went out to look at them with her tulip dress on.

These boys are WILD together. 

It was hard to get good pictures of the kids when about a million other people are trying to take pictures too.  There were so many tulips this year.  We went at a perfect time.
