Animals

Lukey was getting pretty good at being nicer to the cats.  He's recently started to beat up on Oliver again a little.  Oliver is such a good cat to take the abuse without getting mad.  He offers free rides.

Last week we took the kids to Kensington with Nana and Pa Bob.  Lukey thought the farm was okay.  He liked the beach better.  Anna did too.

His favorite part of the farm might have been the sheep water.

Lukey gets a very thoughtful look on his face at meals and just stares out the window.  He sometimes starts smiling to himself as he gazes at the trees.  I really wish I knew what he was thinking about.  He'll sometimes sit there for a really long time in this state.

We celebrated Ma's birthday by going to the Detroit Zoo (thanks Uncle Rob and Auntie Steph for the Zoo pass).

Lukey and his Da looked really nice sitting on the bench eating a snack together.  I would've liked to take better pictures but I was feeding Anna at the same time so it was a little difficult.

Lukey met a peacock (or actually a peahen?).  He thought it was really funny when Da gave him some goldfish crackers.  He then tried to feed the peacock some grapes.  That was when we decided that we shouldn't feed the peacock anything else.

Lukey didn't want to go on the merry-go-round at the Liberty Festival but he really wanted to ride it at the zoo.  However, once he got on he didn't like it as much.  He clung to his Da.  He also didn't like it when Da tried to hold on to the poles.

Anna is getting smarter everyday.  She likes to play with her feet.

She can also roll in both directions and is starting to scoot across her activity mat.  For example, here is where she started....

...and here is where she ended up.  She'll be crawling in no time.

Our family went over to Katherine's house for some wine and food.  Anna and Juliet dressed in matching outfits.  They didn't really want their picture taken but they both looked really nice.  We're going to need to get Anna a fancy bow like Juliet's.

Lukey and Leah enjoyed watching Sesame Street together.

Cousins, Cookie Monsters, and Snail-E

Anna and Paige.

Uncle Rob and Lukey are both fans of Cookie Monster.

We have been tracking this snail for about a week.

He made a move a few days ago.

Today, during a storm, was the first time we saw him with his horns out.

Liberty Fest 2012 Fireworks

This is the first summer in our new house.  Every year there are fireworks  at the Liberty Fest.  They're pretty close, so people on our street sit on their yards and driveways to watch them.  They were pretty nice.  Lukey really liked them.  Anna slept through them.
My country tis of thee...Today!! Sweet land of liberty...Today!!
Our soundtrack to the fireworks was Neil Diamond's "America" on repeat.

We had to eventually get out his leash because he kept trying to run after the fireworks.  Here is Lukey and Pa Bob watching the fireworks for Father's Day.

Lukey spent part of the fireworks chasing and ribitting at toads.
Nana and Lukey watching the fireworks.

My goal was to get Lukey's USA diaper with a firework in the background.  This is true patriotism.  He took a big poo right about this time.

Anna, Lukey and Goat

Anna always stops smiling as soon as the camera gets out.  She starts studying the camera with uncertainty.

This goat jumped in our stroller at the Liberty Fest because he wanted to eat Lukey's  Cheerios.

Lukey gets really mad when we put Anna in the Bumbo and tells us to get her out.  He thinks it is still his.

What great cheeks!
