botanical gardens and a loose tooth

Forgot about these too..
In May we did our annual trip to the botanical gardens.  Lukey had a cast on because he broke his pinky.  Because of that and maybe the weather? we didn't do the long walk as usual but we saw the flowers and the greenhouse and the kids garden.

A lot of people signed Luke's cast.  He was proud.

Anna had a really loose tooth and Lukey was VERY persistent about trying to pull it out for her.  She stood by her ground and said no.  He offered her anything.  He said he'd give her candy, let her pick what movies we watched all weekend, would give her $13 to buy a big beany boo, etc. etc. etc.  She didn't care-he was not going to touch her tooth.

The negotiations continue-he'd tell her "don't worry, it will only take a second. I won't hurt you.  Just shut your eyes and you won't even know it happened.  Just let me do this."  She said no.

It was really loose.

Kent and Luke

Kent and Luke looking tough.

Kent with the birthday girl!

We weren't able to get all the kids together in a picture, but most of them were in there. Ramona and Sloane didn't really want to take pictures.

We got Sloane in this one though. And Barney.

End of the school year for Anna. (didn't take any of Luke..)

Luke was thrilled to be at the recital.

Anna was very tired after the recital and fell asleep on the way home.

1st grade MOOsical

A few weeks ago, 1st grade had a Mooosical.  They kids all sort of dressed up as barn animals and sang barn songs.  Luke's class dressed as cows.  This was the first time Dodson had a concert in the evening for 1st graders.  Luke was NOT excited about it.  We told him the teachers said it would only be about 20 minutes and he said that it would probably be 2 hours and it would be too hot and it would be boring!  He ended up having an okay time.  He didn't want to sign up for a solo or speaking part.  He begged us to let him stay home for this.  He didn't really sing much.  How he looks in this picture above is pretty much what he looked like the whole time.

But it wasn't all that bad.  Afterwards we took him to Menchie's and he said the concert was fine.

He wasn't crying.  This picture just looks like it.

A new friend

Leah and Juliet got a new baby brother, Theodore!  He's a very agreeable baby.  We were very excited to meet him.

While their parents were in the hospital when Theodore was born, Leah and Juliet spent the night.  The kids had a fun time playing together.  We pulled out the bed on the couch and they all slept downstairs together.

A few weeks later, the kids played together and wore "derby" hats while we watched the Kentucky Derby.  We all put in our bets and Luke won!  Part of his winnings was postage stamps because that's all Katherine had.  He was quick to trade them in for some cash at his earliest opportunity though.

Build a Bears

These pictures are from a few weeks ago.  Anna and Luke love their Build a Bears.  They like to have parties with them together and get them dressed up nicely.

They looked especially nice this day so they got a picture.  I like Pumpkin's roller skates and Sia's robe and glasses.

Anna's Piano Concert and Luke's Art Show

Anna did a great job in her piano recital!  She played Rowlf's Blues and Rowlf's Tune.  Rowlf is the dog from Muppets that plays piano.  She has been with a new teacher since January and the concert was at a higher level than the Christmas one.  The kids aren't allowed to use their music for the concert and there were some big kids that were very impressive.  Anna was also excellent. She worked hard at her songs and did wonderful!

Luke's art was in the Plymouth-Canton art show this year!  He was proud.  And we are proud of him too!
